About Our Special Speaker, Rachael Cooper
Rachael Cooper has devoted her career to addressing the overdose crisis, from providing direct services to people with substance use disorders and harm reduction work to providing thought leadership and working on public policy, both in the US and abroad.
At the National Safety Council, she leads the multi-level Council initiatives focused on substance use, mental health, and psychological safety. This includes working with a wide range of partner organizations, helping employers to provide robust support for employees with a substance use disorder, enhancing access to treatment and recovery on federal and state levels, reducing stigma against people with substance use disorders, and addressing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health and substance use.
Rachael holds a master’s degree in French studies, international development and global health from the University of Wisconsin, where she also did her undergraduate work.
