Powerhouse Dance Collection uses a unique concept sounds that can also be called synthetic analogs in general. They give the impression of the classical synthesizers and even some of the vintage machines with knobs. From a hardware point of view the sounds tend to be rather neutral, with few warm or bright characteristics, but there are plenty of morphed ones, e.g. the bass synths are more compressed, the lead synths have a more processed sound, etc.
The Z3ta soundset is mainly based on renowned instruments such as Virus C, Alesis Andromeda, CS-80, Roland Juno-106, Juno-60, Roland Juno-60 keyboard, and more classic re-edits / percussion re-edits from the tape machines. It is equipped with the audio parts from MIDI 8-voice in variousmodes such as classic FM, polymono and tape, and even some MIDI 16-voice. Some of the vintage instruments have multiple variations and modes to offer even more organic sounding results. It comes with mid/side, stereo and mono versions in both FLAC and MP3 formats.
At the beginning of the 1990s, people used to call the first computers bus-driven systems. This was due to the fact that CPU and sound generators were designed to work on time division with the data being fed in one slot at a time.
If we analyze the analog sections of Cakewalk's Z3ta dance collection we find the rhythm section giving the chrysalis appearance to the setting, while the ambience & keying sections appear with the antennae appearance. Baker makes use of the audio parts from MIDI 8-voice in variousmodes such as classic FM, polymono and tape, and even some MIDI 16-voice. He uses some of the sound eras of the V3K synthesizers which he altered to get the specific sound he wanted.
This isn't the first Virus preset collection, others were released under the Virus brand, or as some of the best sounding freebies known to mankind (the C++ preset pack for the Virus B, or the incredible Virus C series). Virus' legendary soundset is based on the large sample set vocals from the time period, and carries a more expensive touch. The deep bass samples are a very important part of the soundset, which bear a striking resemblance to the DSP's (or the sampling deep bass transformations and finetune) 'glitchy' bass sounds. d2c66b5586
