Firstly, the resistor colour codes are printed in decreasing order of resistance. For example, a resistor with number 31 on it, the maximum resistance, is usually red and is the most difficult to find numerically. Therefore, with this colour indicator, it's not a good idea to start looking manually at the end of the resistor until you've found it correctly.
Something else to note is that the colour codes are ordered from the end of the resistor towards the centre. Meaning that the outer colour bands closer to the end of the resistor are usually green-, yellow-, or cyan-coloured band which would be easier to see. So if you see a resistor NODE S D P Q Z (where S is a yellow, D a green, P a cyan and so on) then Q would be the resistor you're looking for.
You can use all these colours to help you work through the normal resistance values on the resistor colour codes. However, green-coloured resistors are valued between two and eight hundreds of ohms and are red-coloured ones valued between two and four hundreds of ohms. Yellow-coloured resistors, between four and nine hundreds ohms are orange and those between nine and fifty hundred ohms are amber.
The remaining stickers on the resistor colour wheel give the tolerance values and would be used to work out a typical tolerance percentage. Having a tolerance value on the sticker gives a ballpark figure so that you don't have to keep checking and rechecking digits on the finished resistor. d2c66b5586
