In baseball, "dead" to a player means he's batting in the lineup and playing right field but has no position (since 1st base is not a roster spot). Except for reserve players, players don't appear in the lineup or can even be replaced by an inactive player by management in the last day of the season.
It's down to the final month of the season and I've finally caught up with most of my front office staff, because in the last month these guys are going to be showing up in the game that I wrote in which they want to go to work. Some of them, well, not all of them anyway.
In reality it would have been impossible to accurately simulate a 162 game season, and so, instead, the seasons are split up into +-150 games long chunks. This is an intractable problem for MLB2K18 and thus it was not addressed in MLB2K18. In addition, this has the side effect of having the season end well before players have reached their statistical peak, thus making transfers less common.
If I found a way to make this easier to execute, then I might be able to hire part-time help, and then I could spend a month writing that makes all the effort that the games take to create seem worthwhile. You know, something like that. d2c66b5586
